Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with the Rally Festival l but had an amazing time there last summer & getting riled up to go again in August; so sharing my experience of a unique & special day festival all about the music & none of the nonsense. Just a few well curated stages & a few choice places to buy food & beer. No flags, face paint or tat just people serious about good music and happy to share the joy.
I bought tickets soley based on Chanel Beads & Nourished by Time being on the line-up. I saw Nourished by Time backed by Lunch Money Life in 2022 & have been waiting to see him live again since. This was the first time seeing Chanel Beads but have been hooked on them most of 2024. The whole line up was pretty solid as any fan of good new music could attest.

Chanel Beads & Nourished by Time pretty much opened the festival so I kind of had my dessert first. Despite my incredibly short footage of the sets (i needed those hands free for the good times) you have to trust me they were so good. Both played on the NTS stage which was a massive bit of a scaffolding with a stage in the middle; interesting views from all angles for sure.
check out some more longform sets here: Also link to :https://youtu.be/0DlzzRZfNVw?si=7Mz89GArylRNkcjO

We also saw the legendary James Holden joined by a percussist who enhanced the pulsatinging and simmering set with shakes and atmsopherics. The set just built and built.
I've seen james playing modular synths alongside drum kit players so it was interesting to see this itteration.

We watched ML Buch's set from the birds eye view of the NTS stage. Downcast vocals, guitars plus electronic drummer and a sky threatening to break. Loved it. What a vibe!

After dancing around to Actresses who did a good job of soldiring on despite the rain (only performers get wet at this stage ha) we took refuge in the Skehans tent which offered us cover, calm & Guiness (a bold choice but a great one).
After our skehans rest we checked out loads of other bands at the other stage... (I went IRL sorry!) I didn't know most of them but they were all pretty good so kudos to the curation. I knew Nilufer Yanya would be good and she was.... they were .. the drummer has a very deep pocket!
The hours flew by ... there really wasn't any filler! London's best day festival I rekon. Can't wait to go again.
*Because this is a drummer blog I couldn't resist the urge to make a drum cover of Chanel Bead's "Embarrassed Dog'. I embellished a little bit. What a groove.
